How To's

Q: How to put your favorite MP3 on your phone as a real ringtone   Top

A: There are many ways to do this but i'll only explain the simplest way to do this.
1) First, we need to download the Purevoice player / recorder from qualcomm.
Download Purevoice It will be the first download link on the page.
2) After you have installed purevoice open it.
3) Next open up your favorite media player, Ex: windows media player, winamp, Real / realone.
4) Play your MP3 file and then hit record on the purevoice player. (See image)

Press record
Press stop when you have recorded the portion of the song you wanted. You can preview it and adjust the volume as necessary. You want to only record only about 30-35 seconds max so that your file size isnt too big.
5) Save the file. (See image)

Save as

The resutling file should have the extension .qcp. This is the file that you will upload to your personal space at 3gforfree.

If purevoice acts like it is recording but you still get no sound follow the following steps:
You need to set Stereo Mix as the input recording device. If your sound card doesnt have the option for stereo mix
then you can use "Sum" or "Mono Mix" as alternatives. To do that you need to open "Control Panel" and choose "Sounds and Audio Devices".
Next you should see Sounds and Audio Device properties. Make sure the volume tab is selected @ the top. Now click the advanced button under Device Volume.

Sounds and Audio Device properties

This will bring up your master volume. From the master volume you need to select Options -- and then properties.

Master volume Properties

Under "Adjust volume for" select "recording". Down below it will say "show the following volume controls". Select Stereo Mix.

Now you will see the Recording Control. Now just make sure that the stereo mix check box is selected near the bottom.

This should solve the problem.
